As we all sit here waiting patiently for Week 4 action of The Overwatch League to start, I would just like to point out that the Houston Outlaws, not the Seoul Dynasty, is the team everyone else in the OWL should be afraid of right now. The dominance they’ve shown the last two weeks is ridiculous. How often does a team just go out and 4-0 the opposition 4 straight games in a row?
Not often.
I get that they’re 4th in the standings and all, but the momentum they’ve gained after going winless in the preseason and Week 1 is palpable. At the start of the season the Houston Outlaws showed poor team play, poor communication, and a lack of aggression that was disheartening for fans of the Outlaws, but it seems they’ve remedied a lot of those issues the past couple of weeks. Most notably, their aggression levels.
Forcing fights and forcing points has been the formula that they’ve relied on in this 16-0 run through these last two weeks of play and they couldn’t have done it without the superstar level play they’ve been getting from Jiri “Linkzr” Masalin. Obviously Linkzr is one of the best DPS in the game, but over this two week span you could argue that he’s THE best in the game. He has definitely been the Houston Outlaws MVP so far this year. I’ve never seen someone play Widowmaker the way he has been lately.

It’s like he’s a headshot factory that only knows how to produce one thing and one thing only—headshots.
However, it’d be irresponsible of me to highlight Linkzr and not bring up the rest of the team. This is a team game after all. Austin “Muma” Wilmot and Matt “Coolmatt” Iorio have been tanking like bosses through this streak and the level of Junkrat play we’ve been seeing out of “Jake” Lyon has been phenomenal. I don’t care if other teams were trolling me for ONLY playing Junkrat the way some teams have been harping on Jake, I would do it anyway. That’s exactly what he’s done for the most part and it has paid off.

After such a phenomenal Week 3, I can’t wait to see what action we get from this week.
I do know the one match I have circled on that beautiful little schedule I printed out is Friday’s 8 p.m. match-up between the Seoul Dynasty and the Houston Outlaws. It’s going to be a fight to see who really is the top dog in the OWL. Yes, this is me throwing a little shade at New York—they’re definitely worthy of being third place though.
At the end of this week, we will all see which team has proven to be the most dominant in the league and I have no doubt in my mind it will be the Houston Outlaws. May the domination continue.
