The 10 Best Beards in Sports

The 10 best beards in sports

Great beards are as old as sports itself. The best beards however are legendary. We don’t actually know that to be true, but then again, who is going to argue with us?

There have been some iconic ones over the years. From playoff beards to the “Idiots” after the Red Sox came back from 3 games down.

Just to set a few ground rules, this isn’t about facial hair. We need a full beard, full goatee, chin strap, mutton chops, something with character. Below are 10 of our favorites. Feel free to fight us in the comments if you disagree.

Kimbo Slice

MMA fighter and YouTube phenomenon. Though he left this world too soon, he was a force to behold.

James Harden

Don’t make this sound weirder than it already is, but I think of James Harden and his beard as different entities. No, I’m serious. The beard, like a pet, has personality and a way of communicating.

Alexi Lalas

Has soccer ever been relevant in the US? No. Could everyone point out Alexi Lalas in the 90’s? You better fucking believe it. Well done, sir. Well done.

Jeff Bagwell

We recently saw a picture with Bagwell without the signature goatee. It was one of those things that you can’t unsee. It’s not like he was gargoyle-esqe, just, well, ya know.

Dallas Keuchel

More than anyone on this list, Dallas really had a plan for his beard. It always looks perfect groomed, not like he just forgot about it. Am I right?

Brent Burns

Is there anything more hockey than this guy? Could you imagine him as your lawyer, doctor, congressman? It’s a lot to love in one single photo.

Antonio Garay

This dudes beard game was WAY better than his actual game. A few short stints in NFL, BUT an additional to the list of our best beards in sports has got to be a great consolation prize.

Justin Turner

The red. The hair. The bald spot he’s covering up with all of it. Not a critique. Just an observation.

Brett Keisel

Voted on as the best beard in the NFL. It’s really gotta be the mustache portion that puts it over the edge.

Brian Wilson

Legend. Brian is credited with the beard that started it all. How epic is his beard? His beard has a hairstyle. Once offered $1,000,000 to cut it off, he turned it down. So. If you are following. His beard is also a bad ass.

Bonus: Mr. T

Is he an athlete? He played one on TV. However there’s one only man that could have pulled off such unreal facial hair. In fact, you can argue it’s the beard that shaped the 80’s.
